  • Any veterinarian working in public health at a state, territorial, tribal, regional, or local health departments
  • Any veterinarian designated as the State Public Health Veterinarian

  • Any veterinarian employed in a state animal health agency, federal government agency, industry, professional veterinary association, or academic institution
  • Any non-veterinarian at a state, territorial, tribal, regional, or local health department who performs duties related to veterinary public health

Membership Criteria:

  • Any graduate or professional student enrolled in an academic institution of veterinary medicine
  • Any graduate veterinarian enrolled in a college of public health

  • Former Active member whose status has been changed to make them ineligible for Active membership
  • Any members who are interested in obtaining Emeritus status must apply to the Executive Board
  • Subject to approval by Executive Board

For members outside the U.S.

  • Any veterinarian who conducts public health, animal health, wildlife health, or environmental health work for for federal, state, provincial, tribal, local, or territorial government agencies outside of the United States
  • Any veterinarian who conducts public health, animal health, wildlife health, or environmental health work for industries, professional veterinary associations, or academic institutions outside of the United States

Frequently Asked Questions

When does my membership start?

Your membership will begin immediately upon approval of your application and receipt of payment. You'll receive a welcome email with login credentials to access the member portal.

How do I renew my membership?

Renewal notices are sent via email 60 days before your membership expires. You can renew online through the member portal or by mail using the renewal form included in your notice.

Can I upgrade my membership type?

Yes! Students transitioning to professional roles and members who transition jobs that qualify for a different membership category can update their membership at any time by contacting us at execboard@nasphv.org.
